                                                                 Malika Sanjeevani

Sri Lankan artist 'Malika Sanjeevani' completed her Bachelor's in 'Visual Arts' having specialization in Painting from 'University of Visual & Performing Arts' Colombo in 2007. Today she is a popular face among the younger generation Sri Lankan artists. Malika's work does have a surreal feel with a flavour of pure aesthetic elegance. The artist was a bit introvert in her

younger days and often felt lonely.

Fortunately at that time she got the chance to live close to nature, where she carefully watched the bushy trees, birds, insects & butterflies. All those remain in her subconscious mind and eventually reflected in her paintings in surreal form. She depicts herself as the only recognizable human figure in her most compositions. The artist has widely exhibited her works in Sri Lanka and overseas on a regular basis. She participated in the '17th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh' Dhaka in 2016. Her works were also showcased in 'SAARC Artists Camp' & an exhibition in Bamiyan, Afghanistan in 2015. She is the recipient of '1st Prize Winner' in Annual exhibition of 'Ceylon Society of Arts', held at 'National Art Gallery' Colombo. Her works were also showcased at 'Lionel Wendt Art Gallery' & 'JDA Perea Gallery' under 'George Keyt Foundation' Colombo. The artist lives & works in Marakkalawaththa, Beruwala.
